In announcing the appointment, Mayor Loveless stated, “John’s extensive hands-on experience in local government administration, coupled with his professional qualifications, positions him as an excellent candidate for our Executive Committee. His wealth of knowledge and track record of success will undoubtedly be an asset to NYCOM as we work to advance our mission and goals.”

Goodwin has served as the City Manager for the City of Canandaigua since July 2017. He previously served as Assistant City Manager for Canandaigua (2014-2017) and Assistant to the Village
Manager in Scarsdale, NY (2009-2014). John earned his Master’s in Public Administration from Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, University at Albany, SUNY. He is an ICMA-Credentialed City Manager and a National Public Employer Labor Relations Association Certified Labor Relations Professional.
