Four members of the Clyde-Savannah High School football team have been arrested on charges related to the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old teammate that occurred in the locker room on Halloween.
A Wayne County Grand Jury on Thursday indicted a 15-year-old, 16-year-old, and 17-year-old on felony aggravated sexual abuse charges as well as misdemeanor hazing and forcible touching charges. A second 16-year-old was charged with two felony counts of unlawful surveillance. All four teens are from Clyde.
After being arrested and processed, the four were released to their parents and ordered back to Wayne County Youth Part next week. An order of protection was issued to the victim.
The investigation by Clyde Police and State Police into the hazing incident began when the victim’s parent became aware of a recording of the locker room incident that was shared on social media. It resulted in the school district canceling the team’s undefeated season as it was getting ready to play in a semi-final round Wayne-Finger Lakes League playoff game.
On Wednesday, the Clyde-Savannah Board of Education meeting was postponed at the request of law enforcement. The meeting is rescheduled for November 15th
