A new weeklong event celebrating women past and present will span the Fingerlakes next month.
Running from March 3-10, Brave Women Week coincides with International Women’s Day (March 8) and Harriet Tubman Day (March 10). The event will feature events and programs as well as specials at women-owned businesses throughout Cayuga, Cortland, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, and Seneca Counties. Events include Auburn’s Brave Brews Festival and Naples’ Women’s Weekend.
Brave Women Week is part of the Brave Women FLX tourism campaign, a collaboration between each participating county’s tourism office showcasing famous historical women throughout the Finger Lakes. Spearheaded by Executive Director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism Executive Director Karen Kuhl, each county has a historical connection to women trailblazers.
“Susan B Anthony, Elizabeth Blackwell, Harriet Tubman, each county that is participating in this campaign has significant historical content relating to women trailblazers who have made an impact in our world,” Kuhl said.
