Rachelle Bateman, former president of the Romulus Central School District Board of Education, has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Varick Town Board.
According to a release from Bateman, she said she is seeking a board seat because she wants to ensure the natural resources of Varick are preserved, along with the quality of life for residents. Bateman said she sees a need to improve the town’s roads and infrastructure while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Bateman wants to ensure that residents’ voices are heard and that they are kept informed of local government operations and decisions. Bateman said she has a strong record of community service and is committed to making a positive impact locally.
Bateman served on the Romulus school board for 12 years, including terms as vice president and president. She has lived in Varick for nine years and in Seneca County for 24 years.
The election for the Varick Town Board will be held on Tuesday, November 4.
