The Village of Newark has a new Chief of Police.
Agustin Gonzalez was sworn in at the Village Board meeting on Tuesday.
Gonzalez grew up in Buffalo and served in the military during Operation Desert Storm before beginning a law enforcement career that spans more than 20 years. Most of that time was spent with the Rochester Police Department, where he rose through the ranks and supervised patrol operations involving dozens of officers.
Gonzalez replaced Rich Martin, who retired last month.
