SHARE NOW

A multi-agency active shooter response training exercise will take place this week on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva.

The Geneva Police Department, working with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and Hobart and William Smith Colleges Campus Safety, will conduct the training today through Thursday. Exercises are scheduled to run each day between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Officials say residents and visitors may notice a larger-than-usual police presence in the area as officers participate in the training.

As part of the exercise, Pulteney Street will be closed to through traffic from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

Authorities emphasize that the activity is only a training exercise and there is no threat to the public.

Officials are asking for patience and understanding as agencies work together to strengthen emergency response coordination and public safety preparedness.
