$93K Theft: Former Geneva Legion Leader on the Run

SHARE NOW

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a former commander of the Geneva American Legion Post #396. Dale Mosher failed to show up in court on September 18th in connection with the alleged theft of nearly $93,000 from the Legion over eight years.

Mosher was charged with grand larceny and was indicted in April. Investigators say a ten-month probe revealed that he allegedly stole $92,968 from the post between December 2015 and May 2025.

According to Sheriff David Cirencione, the investigation began shortly after Mosher left office. The new commander contacted the Sheriff’s Office after Mosher refused to provide past financial records and banking information. An internal audit conducted by a Legion officer raised concerns about possible financial misconduct.

Mosher was scheduled to appear in court last week but did not show. Authorities do not know his current whereabouts and are unsure if he remains in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office at 800-394-4560.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
