An ambulance struck a utility pole in Ontario County Saturday, sending one person to the hospital.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 8:30p near 7007 Routes 5&20 in East Bloomfield.
The driver of the East Bloomfield Ambulance, 67-year-old William Smith, claimed sun glare had caused him to drift off the roadway and strike the pole. 65-year-old Gina Zaino-Brown, also with the ambulance service, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for an apparent neck injury.
No patients were in the ambulance at the time of the crash.
5&20 was shut down from Route 444 to Hillcrest Drive while RG&E replaced the damaged poles.
