Four Phelps residents are facing felony charges after a dog was found to have starved to death last month at their residence.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports investigating a complaint of a dead dog along with the Humane Society. On November 24, the remains of a three-year-old Dogo Argentino dog named Covid were found wrapped in a blanket, several yards from a makeshift kennel in a wooded area behind the 1074 Cress Road residence.
The remains were taken to Cornell Animal Health Diagnostic Center where a necropsy determined the cause of death was starvation.
36-year-old Alicia Wright, 37-year-old Cory DiSanto, 60-year-old Robert Walker, and 54-year-old Amy Walker, all living at the residence, were allegedly aware of this incident. They were all charged with Aggravated Cruelty to an Animal. DiSanto was taken to jail for arraignment while the other three were issued appearance tickets for Phelps Town Court.
Five other dogs were found at the location and were seized and taken for evaluation.
