Three Fingerlakes communities are receiving state funds for water infrastructure projects.
Governor Kathy Hochul made the announcement on Thursday that the Environmental Facilities Corporation Board of Directors approved $237 million in funding to assist municipalities across the state to improve their water infrastructure.
“Today’s announcement is another large step towards ensuring that New Yorkers don’t have to worry if the water coming out of the faucet is safe,” Governor Hochul said. “Keeping New Yorkers safe is my top priority, and that’s why I committed another $500 million for clean water in my executive budget. By helping communities fund essential upgrades to their water systems, we’re protecting public health, the environment, and New Yorkers’ wallets.”
The Village of Clyde has been awarded $2.4 million in grants and a finance package to replace pumps for two wells with vertical turbine pumps, upgrades to the village’s chemical feed system, and the construction of a new treatment system and building.
The Town of Lyons has received $4.4 million in interest-free financing to plan, design, and construct pump station upgrades in its sanitary sewer collection system.
Phelps has received a $587,160 grant and financing package to extend its water district to provide drinking water to 25 properties on White and Marble Roads that currently rely on private wells.
