Following this week’s fire on Main Street in Ovid, the United Way of Seneca County and Seneca County Emergency Management are asking the community for input.
If you or someone you know has been impacted by the fire through displacement, or unemployment or have concerns about access to food and household items (which were previously available at the Ovid Big M), please call 211. There are currently services in place to assist the affected community in meeting these needs. You will need to call 211 to sign up for these services to help us create a comprehensive list of individual needs and community challenges to be addressed immediately and in the near future.
Rhonda Jasper, United Way of Seneca County Executive Director, shared, “The quick response of our community has been tremendous! In addition to the immediate emergency response though, we do recognize that the community’s need for support will be long term with challenges faced by everyone who relied on the small businesses for groceries, food, employment, services, socialization and more.”
Melissa Taylor, Director of Seneca County Emergency Management, would like to thank the many people, organizations, and businesses who have provided donations and assistance to those affected. “We are also very grateful for our relationship with our COAD, Community Organizations Active in Disasters. We collaborate with them during blue sky days, so we are better prepared to meet the needs of the community if and when it is necessary.”
