The “1st Ever Great Turkey Drop-Off” is underway in Waterloo, as FLX Local Media’s Classic Hits 99.3 teams up with Wilkins RV, Reister’s Appliances, Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, and Music for the Mission to help feed local families this Thanksgiving.
The turkey drive runs through noon on Sunday in the Walmart parking lot in Waterloo. Shoppers can buy frozen turkeys inside Walmart and bring them directly to the RV and freezer setup on site.
Organizers hope to collect 500 turkeys to support families in Cayuga, Seneca, and Ontario counties through local food bank programs. Classic Hits 99.3’s Lisa Cruz is broadcasting live throughout the weekend with updates and calls for donations. Non-perishable food items and monetary contributions are also being accepted.
For those who can’t stop by, donations can be made at catholiccharitiesfl.org—just type “turkey” in the comment box.
“This is a great way for our community to come together and make sure everyone has a Thanksgiving meal,” Cruz said.
