The annual Festival of Stars celebration at Huntington Living Center was made even brighter this year thanks to an $18,000 donation from the Taylor Brown Auxiliary to support the renovation and expansion of the facility’s courtyard.
The check was presented during the Dec. 3 event, which serves as the holiday tree-lighting ceremony for the Finger Lakes Health long-term care facility. Foundation Executive Director Kim Ilacqua said the gift will significantly help fund improvements to the outdoor space.
“Taylor Brown Auxiliary’s gift goes a long way in helping to pay for the new courtyard, something Huntington’s residents will be able to enjoy for years to come,” Ilacqua said, praising the Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts, including its golf tournament, raffles and bake sales.
The donation continues the Auxiliary’s decades-long mission to enhance the lives of Huntington residents through support for recreational programming, facility improvements, and seasonal decorating. The sale of commemorative stars, which decorate the lobby tree, is a longstanding annual tradition for the group.
This year’s event also included a special recognition for Auxiliary president Linda Quackenbush, who is stepping down after more than 30 years of dedicated service. Finger Lakes Health Vice President of Long-Term Care Bill Garrity said her impact on residents and families has been immense.
“It is hard to overestimate how much Linda has done over the years to help us make Huntington a warm and welcoming place,” Garrity said. “We are grateful for her heartfelt commitment and consistent support.”
