SHARE NOW

It’s Election Day across the Finger Lakes, and voters are heading to the polls to decide several key local races.

In Geneva, voters will choose City Council representatives in Wards 2, 4, and 6, along with one at-large seat. Six candidates are running for the city’s three seats on the County’s Board of Supervisors. Jim Cecere is running unopposed to become the city’s next mayor. In Canandaigua, Mayor Bob Palumbo faces a challenge from Thomas Lyon, and six candidates are competing for four at-large seats on City Council. And one of the most closely watched contests, the race for County District Attorney, pits Jason McBride against former DA Jim Ritts, who retired last month.

In Cayuga County, Amy Sargent, who was appointed to fill a vacancy on the county legislature, now faces Michael Pettigrass to keep that seat. And in the City of Auburn, voters will pick two new members for the City Council from four candidates on the ballot. In Waterloo, former Town Supervisor and Village Mayor Ted Young is looking to unseat Don Trout as Town Supervisor. In Seneca Falls, two seats are open on the Town Council, and voters will also choose two county supervisors from a field of four candidates

In Yates County Legislature District Two, Richard Wilson, Terry Button, and Richard Harper, along with challenger Klaas Martens, are vying for three seats with four-year terms representing the town of Potter and Torrey and districts 1-2 in the town of Benton. There are contested races for council seats in the towns of Italy, Middlesex, and Milo.

In Schuyler County, there are contested races in Schuyler County Legislative Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as a contested race for two seats on the Town of Catherine Council and for Dix Town Supervisor.

Polls remain open until 9 tonight. We will have results posted as they come in this evening.
