Geneva BID Puts the Brakes on Cruisin’ Night

News Release –

After 23 years of serving as a beloved community tradition, the Geneva Business Improvement District (GBID) today announced that it will no longer host the popular Cruisin’ Night Event. Rising costs and ongoing security concerns have led GBID to conclude that the historic 3-in-1 event—combining a car show, live music, and a block party—has run its course.

“As we continue to evaluate the evolving needs and challenges within our community, it has become clear that some events must adapt or come to an end. While we bid farewell to Cruisin’ Night, we are excited to usher in a new chapter focused exclusively on celebrating automotive culture,” said GBID Director Price.

“The Geneva BID is excited to announce the launch of Wheels in Geneva, a streamlined car show experience spearheaded by Patrick O’Connor—who has consulted on Cruisin’ Night for the past three years—and Revved up Events. This reimagined event will be held as a day show, running from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 14th, rather than the traditional evening format on the last weekend in July.” Pat O’Connor is the main organizer for many car shows in the area including Wheels on the Seneca: Veteran’s Benefit, Oaks Corners Fire Department, and Seneca Falls Car Show just to name a few.

O’Connor recognizes there will be some discomfort – “We realize that the date change will be an adjustment, but as we looked at available days, we didn’t want to conflict with other area shows. In addition, the weather will be much nicer for an asphalt day show in September.”

Wheels in Geneva will take place in the Seneca Street Parking lot and along Scott LaFaro Drive, significantly reducing the footprint from Cruisin’ Night. With a limited number of vendors—featuring only a few veteran-sponsored food vendors—and no live music, the emphasis will be solely on the cars that have long been the heart of the celebration.

“Our goal now is to rebuild from the ground up with a singular focus on the Car Show” says O’Connor.

GBID looks forward to welcoming car enthusiasts and community members alike to this safe and enjoyable Downtown Geneva automotive event. Price says “As we move forward will be creating opportunities for the downtown businesses to participate in this event.” Stay tuned for information on how to register your vehicle for Wheels in Geneva.
