The first-ever Corrections Academy class offered by the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy (FLLEA) graduated on Monday. The ceremony was held at Finger Lakes Community College.
While FLLEA is well known for its police academy programs, this inaugural Corrections Academy marks the first time the academy has hosted a training program specifically focused on preparing correction officers for service in county facilities.
Graduates of the class represent six sheriff’s offices across the Finger Lakes region: Cayuga, Ontario, Seneca, Schuyler, Tompkins, and Yates counties.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office will add five graduates to its correctional ranks. They are:
- Hannah Patrick
- Nicholas Natale
- Amy Smithling
- Michael Wheeler
- Cody Meunier
“We are incredibly proud of these five individuals who represent the future of our correctional staff,” said Ontario County Undersheriff Michael Rago. “Their dedication and professionalism throughout the academy reflect the highest standards of public service, and we are grateful to have them join our team.”
Cayuga County adds two graduates to its ranks, Deputy Haris Harbas, and Deputy Grace Ryan.

Three members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office graduated from the Basic Course for Correction Officers hosted by the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy. The graduating members were Correction Officer Tyrell Bluto, Correction Officer Richard Chilson, and Correction Officer Noah Rhinehart.
