Eastview Mall and surrounding businesses were evacuated Monday evening after authorities received a bomb threat reporting multiple explosive devices on the property.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the Ontario County 911 Center received a third-party bomb threat at approximately 6:14 p.m. claiming there were multiple bombs at the Eastview Mall property.

Deputies assigned to the mall responded immediately and worked with mall security to evacuate the building and parking lots. Nearby businesses were also notified of the threat and evacuated as a precaution.

Additional deputies responded to assist, while explosive detection K-9 units from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and the Transportation Security Administration were called to the scene.

Authorities said the K-9 teams conducted a systematic search of both the interior and exterior of the mall property. No explosives or suspicious devices were located.

Fire and EMS personnel were staged nearby during the response but were ultimately not needed.

The source of the threat remains under investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

The evacuation prompted the mall to close early Monday evening. Earlier in the night, shoppers reported being directed to leave the building as law enforcement officers cleared the property.
