This summer, the Auburn school district will begin the final phase of its Capital Improvement Project began in 2017. Now that voters have increased its debt limit, how will that affect future projects?
Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo told Finger Lakes News Radio, that the new funding allows for much-needed work.
“Some of our boilers, we have to just continue to repair them even though they’re close to the end of their useful life, Pirozzolo said. “We’ve done some patchwork for roofing because we couldn’t do full replacements because there wasn’t enough money for the capital project. So, those are some of the things will be concentrating on looking forward to the next capital project.”
Pirozzolo adds planning for the next project will begin in January. The process is a lengthy one, something the superintendent discussed on FLX Morning.
Earlier this month, voters approved increasing a small city school district’s debt limit from 5% to 10% of a district’s assessed property value.
