The Village of Weedsport is encouraging residents to participate in its Hometown Heroes project.
The project sees banners bearing the names and images of past and present local members of the US military displayed in the village. Past and current residents of the Village of Weedsport, Town of Brutus, or the Weedsport Central School District are encouraged to participate in the project by applying for a banner for themselves, if they’ve served, or a family member who has served or is serving in the military. People honored on the banner can be living or deceased, and be active duty, retired, or reservists.
Banners will be displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day for five years, then returned to the owner.
To participate, there is a $200 fee to cover the cost of printing and installing the banners.
