Weedsport has lost its only grocery store.
A family member announced on the “Weedsport Community News” Facebook group that the Shurfine store is closing indefinitely due to financial struggles. They called it a devastating decision and blamed competition with big-box retailers.
According to its Facebook page, the Weedsport Shurfine has been owned and operated by John and Bri Bos since 2017. Phone calls placed to the Weedsport Shurfine have gone unanswered.
This closure follows the recent loss of Ovid’s Big M store, which was destroyed by fire.
