Fleming voters will have a chance to cast their ballots next month as the Fleming Fire District looks to replace two of their vehicles.
The district wants to purchase a new rescue pumper to replace its current 2006 Pierce Quantum Rescue Pumper and 2005 Ferrara Intruder Engine. Both vehicles are reaching the end of their recommended 20-year life span as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association.
As rescue pumpers provide both fire suppression and rescue capabilities, they are suitable to respond to a variety of emergencies. The department says this makes these types of vehicles vital to serving the Town of Fleming and surrounding communities.
In order for the district to purchase a new rescue pumper and related equipment, voters will need to pass a resolution “authorizing the financing by issuing a serial bond or statutory installment bond or installment purchase agreement, up to 20 years for the maximum bond amount of $1,350,000 principal and to issue bond anticipation notes in conjunction with the above, for up to five consecutive years.”
Eligible voters within the district can cast their ballots from 6:00-9:00p on September 10 at the Fleming Fire District No. 1 at 6063 West Lake Rd. This date is a change as the vote was originally scheduled for September 3.
