2023 marks the 200th anniversary of the Town of Venice and it plans to celebrate this Saturday.
Highway Superintendent Stephen Fedrizzi is organizing the bicentennial celebrations. He says it’s about community engagement.
“What we’re going to do is open [the town] up to the community to come see and ask questions: what we do as a town? How more people can get involved in the town?… Basically get people here to see what Venice is all about.”
A display by the town historian will showcase Venice through the years. State and local officials will also be on hand to celebrate and meet with the public. Dougan’s will have food available and there will be kids activities as well.
The event will take place from 11:00a-4:00p Saturday at the Town Municipal Building located at the corner of Route 34 and Poplar Ridge Road. Fedrizzi says just look for the big red snowplow.
