Update: The Cayuga County Legislature has postponed the public hearing on the proposed ticket surcharge at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse.

An updated agenda from the legislature indicates that the hearing has been postponed and the proposed resolution pulled from the agenda. A new legislation has been introduced to establish a public hearing at the legislature’s February 24 meeting, taking place at 6:00p at the Ward O’Hara Ag Museum.

A public hearing will be held tonight on Cayuga County’s proposed law to establish a surcharge for ticket sales at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse at Emerson Park.

Originally set to take place as part of Tuesday’s legislature meeting, the meeting was cancelled and rescheduled for Thursday, along with the hearing. The hearing will take place at 6:00p at the Ward O’Hara Ag Museum. Those wishing to speak are asked to call 315-294-8051.

The meeting will be livestreamed on the county’s YouTube channel.

Under the proposed law, a surcharge would be added to tickets sold for admission to the theatre. The legislature would set the surcharge amount through July 31, 2027. From then on, the legislature would need to set the surcharge amount on or before August 1 for sales occurring over the next 12 months.
