Famed Harriet Tubman biographer Kate Clifford Larson will be back in History’s Hometown for a lecture linking Harriet Tubman’s legacy with 20th-century civil rights activist Fanny Lou Hamer.
Jeff Ludwig with the Seward House told Finger Lakes News Radio it will truly be a unique event.
“[This] will be truly a unique event to see a longer stretch of history and to connect the dots all the way from Harriet Tubman’s lifetime in the 1820s to the late 20th century and then follow these two voices,” said Ludwig.
The lecture surrounds Larson’s book Walk With Me: A Biography of Fannie Lou Hamer which tells the story of Hamer, a civil rights leader and women’s rights activist born in the Jim Crow South.
A reception will take place from 5:30-7:00p at the Equal Rights Heritage Center, followed by the 7:30p lecture at Auburn Public Theater. More information and ticket options can be found at sewardhouse.org.
