Time is running out to donate to United Way of Cayuga County’s seventh annual Personal Care Drive.
October 15 is the final day to donate personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, dental floss, razors, shaving cream, laundry detergent, toilet paper, feminine products, hand soap, body soap, diapers, wipes, deodorant, dish soap, and tissues. Once the items are collected, they’ll be brought to CAP and sorted for distribution to county soup kitchens, food pantries, and homeless shelters.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Julisa Stone with United Way explained the importance of this drive to those in need.
“Often times, items like these are not covered by assistance programs so families are often left with the choice of buying deodorant or buying dinner for the night.”
Stone added that United Way’s goal for the 2024 drive is to beat last year’s total of 5,000 items collected.
“We do recognize that this is a tough year for families so anything that we collect is a huge success because it’s all going right back to the community.”
As United Way serves the entirety of Cayuga County, drop-off sites have been set up across the county to collect items. A complete list of participating sites can be found at unitedwayofcayugacounty.org.
