SHARE NOW

United Way of Cayuga County’s Eighth Annual Personal Care Drive begins next week.

The group will have collection boxes set up across Cayuga County as it seeks to collect 3,000 hygiene items to support local food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters. Items needed include shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, dental floss, deodorant, razors, laundry detergent, body wash, hand soap, sanitary napkins, tampons, toilet paper, diapers, dish soap, and facial tissues.

The drive will kick off on August 7 as part of United Way’s Fifth Annual Day of Caring and run through October 13. An early donation site has already been set up at United Way’s offices at 2 South St in Auburn.

Donation sites can be found on United Way’s website.

Employers wanting to host a community box for their employees and/or the public can register their locations here. Social clubs, church groups, sports teams, and other clubs wishing to hold abbreviated drives or special collection events can contact Julisa Stone-Szpaicher at 315-253-9741 for more information.

Last year, 2,300 items were collected for distribution to 17 county food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.
