United Way Mini Golf Tournament Raises Over $7K to Support Mission

United Way of Cayuga County’s second-largest annual fundraiser has raised over $7,000 to support the group’s mission to improve the lives of those in the county.

United Way’s 32nd Annual Tim Morrison Mini-Golf Tournament saw over 300 community members in 53 teams gather at the Holiday Inn to play a round of mini golf with courses designed by local businesses.

Between registration fees, 50/50 and raffle sales, tips, and sponsorships, the event raised over $7,000 to help United Way support Member Agency programs throughout the community. United Way of Cayuga County Executive Director Kathryn Dennis told Finger Lakes News Radio that the event wouldn’t have been so successful without the community’s support.

“Thank you to all the tournament sponsors, the golf architects, and the volunteers who make it all possible. We really couldn’t do it without the enthusiasm and their support and willingness to put on this event. It is a lot of work, but I think everyone looks forward to it, and the outcome is fantastic, supporting a great cause.”

For the first time in over a decade, this year’s tournament saw at least one business from each of the county’s three regions – north, south, and central – participate. Dennis said this showcases the recent efforts United Way has taken to increase awareness about its mission in all regions of the county.

“We live in a beautiful county that goes as Far north as Moravia and as far south as Moravia… It’s wonderful to have businesses represented, communities represented from all over the area.”

As with any tournament, there are winners. Champions were announced in a variety of categories, including golfing skill, hole design, and theme-based names and attire. (This year’s theme was Broadway.) Winners of the 2025 tournament include:

  • Tournament Champions: Captain Landon McCarthy and Mozaic
  • Best Broadway Attire: The Checkered Revolution for their Hamilton-inspired costumes
  • Best Hole Design: Baxter International
  • 5:00p Flight Champs: Classic Cones
  • 6:00-6:30p Flight Champs: Army
  • Best Broadway-themed Team Name: Bye Bye Birdie (Unity House)

United Way is already planning its 2026 rendition of the tournament and recommends people follow the organization on Facebook to stay up to date.

The group’s largest annual fundraiser, the Annual Campaign, wrapped up earlier this year and saw over $642,000 raised to support local member agencies.
