The Village of Union Springs is launching a new way to honor its hometown heroes.
Through its first-ever Military Tribute Banner Program, Union Springs will display 20×40″ banners throughout the village featuring the photos and military information of local men and women who have served or are serving in the nation’s armed forces.
Union Springs and Springport residents are invited to sponsor a banner, allowing them to choose their honoree. Veterans, Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard Members are eligible to be featured on the banners.
Deputy Clerk for the Village, Garrett Shepherd, told Finger Lakes News Radio that over half the available banners have already been sponsored so the village is encouraging residents to not delay in making a sponsorship.
As the banners will be displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day, he added that the village is requesting all sponsorships be made by May 1.
Sponsorships cost $120.00 per banner with banners being stored for future display until they are retired due to condition. Sponsorships can be made at militarytributebanners.org.
