Anglers and hunters now have another option when it comes to buying their hunting and fishing licenses in Cayuga County.
Village Mayor Rob Thurston Jr. told Finger Lakes News Radio that, following village staff completing the requisite training, the village is now authorized to sell New York State hunting and fishing licenses.
“It’s about government being accessible and helping the community with these additional services and programs,” said Thurston. “So I’m really excited that our team is willing to take on the extra load to provide another great service to our residents and folks that are coming to our area to visit.”
With the village’s location on Cayuga Lake, a boat launch, and shore fishing space, Thurston believes Union Springs is a perfect place to buy a fishing license. He also thinks the service will be a valuable asset for those coming to Cayuga Lake from out of the region or out of state to enjoy recreational fishing or to compete in a tournament.
Licenses can be purchased from the clerk or deputy clerk at the village office during regular operating hours. Those hours are currently 9:00a-1:00p Monday through Friday. Thurston added that appointments can be made to purchase a license outside those hours by calling 315-889-7341 or emailing [email protected].
