The Union Springs Central School District could lose over a million dollars in Foundation Aid if Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed budget is approved.
In a letter to the district community, Superintendent Jarett Powers said that changes in the formula determining aid would see Foundation Aid for the district cut from $7,815,636 to $6,788,052 for the 2024-2025 school year, a $1,027,584 revenue loss.
He added that, while the school board, staff, and school community are working to blunt the impact these cuts would have on the district, this would most likely force the district to reduce extra-curricular activities and instructional programming at the schools.
