Time Running Out to Support Libraries’ “Great Give Back” Campaigns

SHARE NOW

There’s still time to support area libraries participating in the Great Give Back

Libraries throughout the Finger Lakes Library System, which consists of public libraries in Cayuga, Cortland, Seneca, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties, are participating in the Great Give Back, an annual community service initiative encouraging libraries across the state and their patron to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences. Four libraries in Cayuga County are still participating.

In Auburn, the Seymour Public Library will be accepting donations of diapers, pull-ups, and wipes for donation to Community Action Programs Cayuga/Seneca to support families in need. Donations can be dropped off at the library’s family space during normal library hours now through November 15.

Both the Aurora Free Library in Aurora and the Hazard Library in Poplar Ridge are collecting child-friendly fruit cups for the King Ferry Food Pantry. Items can be donated at either library now through October 31.

In Weedsport, the Weedsport Free Library is collecting gently used or new Halloween costumes for students in the Weedsport Community. Items can be dropped off at the library now through October 31.

It should be noted that the Port Byron Library participated in this year’s Great Give Back as well. From October 1-18, the library collected kitchen items to support the American Legion John Cool Post 257 in Port Byron.

The Great Give Back was created by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, in conjunction with the Nassau Library System.
