Three smoke shops in Cayuga County have been shut down following an investigation into illegal cannabis sales.
According to the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force, the investigation was launched after receiving multiple complaints from residents and local business owners about unlicensed marijuana sales. The smoke shops involved are located at 4 East Genesee Street and 146 Seymour Street in the City of Auburn, and 1741 Clark Street Road in the Town of Aurelius.
The task force worked with the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, which confirmed that none of the shops held valid licenses to sell cannabis. As a result, Cayuga County Court approved search warrants for all three locations.
On Thursday afternoon, officers executed the warrants and discovered cannabis flower, THC edibles, vapes, packaging materials, digital scales, and other paraphernalia commonly used in illegal drug sales.
Following the raids, the New York State Office of Cannabis Management ordered all three shops closed until further notice. The investigation remains ongoing.
