The suspended Cayuga County probation officer accused of allegedly abusing his power was in Cayuga County Court on Wednesday.

The Citizen reports Nicholas Flanigan’s appearance was for a pretrial conference which resulted in his case being sent to County Court for grand jury review. Flanigan was arrested two weeks ago for allegedly abusing his authority over those on probation for personal benefits, including monetary gain as well as having had inappropriate conversations with them.

The 34-year-old Auburn man has pleaded not guilty to felony counts of Falsifying Business Records, Offering a False Instrument for Filing, and Official Misconduct.

Per county policy, Flanigan was suspended with pay.
