The Auburn Enlarged City School District is continuing in its search to find its next superintendent.
The Board of Education plans to conduct its first round of confidential interviews later his month. Following this, semi-finalists will be selected and given the chance to meet with stakeholder committees in May. The committees will consist of faculty, staff, administration, parents, and the community. The district plans to have the committee members selected either later this month or early next month.
Two finalists will be selected in June. They will spend a “Day in the District,” after which the final candidate will be selected, offered the role, and confirmed by the board.
The search for a new superintendent began in January following current superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo’s announcement that he planned to retire on January 5, 2025.
Auburn School Board President Ian Phillips said, “We’re incredibly thankful to Superintendent Pirozzolo for his years of service to our district and community. The Auburn School Board is committed to use all the wisdom, passion, creativity and experience that exists in our community to find our next district leader. As a result, with the help of our Advisory Committee, we have designed a process that is designed to bring in all stakeholders with the goal of finding the right leader for our students, parents, staff, and community as a whole.”
The board posted an online survey allowing the community to weigh in on what characteristics the new superintendent should possess. Over 300 people responded before the survey closed on January 28. According to the district, the results found that an ideal candidate should have “vision, instructional leadership, collaborative skills, integrity, excellent communication skills, and financial and operational acumen.”
The district accepted applications from February 16- March 15 with candidates being selected in late March for the first round of confidential interviews.
