Cayuga County youth can now enter United Way’s annual Day of Caring T-Shirt Competition.
United Way of Cayuga County is inviting students who either live or go to school in the county to create the design for this year’s Day of Caring event on August 6. Eligible participants must be at least 10 years old and still in school.
Organizers said the design should highlight United Way’s impact on the county, incorporating themes such as volunteerism, bringing people together, creating hope, or supporting one another through difficult times.
The winning design will be featured on the front of the shirts worn by volunteers at the event, United Way’s website, social media, promotional materials, and more. The runner-up and second runner-up will have their designs featured on the back of the t-shirt.
Submissions and the contest forms must be received by United Way no later than Friday, April 17. Submissions can be scanned and emailed to [email protected], or physically submitted at United Way’s Office – 2 State Street, Suite 2, Auburn, NY 13021.
A list of rules and the submission form can be found on United Way’s website. Anyone with questions is asked to contact Campaign & Marketing Manager, Julisa Stone-Szpaicher, at 315-253-9741 or email [email protected].
For their efforts, the winner and both runners-up will receive a t-shirt, art supplies, and a gift card. They’ll receive the prizes at the Day of Caring Breakfast Rallies, held on August 6.
The rallies are designed to celebrate community and volunteerism, and are attended by Day of Caring volunteers, project site coordinators, event sponsors, and dignitaries. Due to the event’s growth, organizers will hold rallies in Auburn and Union Springs this year.
Last year, over 370 volunteers wore the Day of Caring t-shirts as they worked on 19 projects between Auburn, Aurora, Fair Haven, Montezuma, Poplar Ridge, and Union Springs.
