Submissions Open for Seymour Library Poetry Contest

SHARE NOW

Submissions are now open for the Seymour Library’s 2026 Poetry Contest.

In celebration of the library’s 150th anniversary, this year’s contest, held by the library in partnership with the Friends of Seymour Library and The Resting Soul, invites participants to “share their Library Love through verse” by creating library-themed poetry.

Participants may submit up to three haikus or short poems (no longer than 12 lines). Submissions will be judged in the following categories: children, teen, and adult (19+).

Poems can be submitted now through March 16 in person at the library at 176 Genesee St, Auburn, by mail (ATTN: Poetry Contest Committee), or by email at [email protected]. There is no fee to participate.

First-place winners in each category will receive a $20 gift card and be published on the library’s website and in the Citizen. Second-place winners will receive a $10 gift card and be published as well.

Winners will be invited to read their poems at Seymour Library’s Poetry Open Mic Night on Thursday, April 23, at 6:00p at the Cayuga Museum’s Carriage House Theater.
