One of the men looking to win the 126th state assembly district seat has received the endorsement of a high-ranking state official.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli has officially endorsed Democrat Ian Phillips in his assembly run. In his decision, DiNapoli cited Phillips’ advocacy for important social and economic issues.
“As a lifelong community advocate and organizer, I have no doubts Ian Phillips will put the people of Central New York and the Finger Lakes first. I proudly endorse Ian and look forward to seeing him be a voice for education, environmental protections, and economic affordability when he is in Albany.”
Phillips expressed his gratitude for the comptroller’s support.
“Comptroller DiNapoli has been a lifelong public servant and as New York State’s watchdog has prioritized his constituents’ financial well being. I am honored to have his endorsement and look forward to delivering real relief on costs for working families, continuing to get our fair share of education funding, and driving Central New York’s comeback as our next Assemblymember.”
DiNapoli was in Auburn on Sunday to headline a rally in support of the passage of Prop 1, also known as the NYS Equal Rights Amendment.
Phillips is running to unseat Republican incumbent John Lemondes to represent the 126th district which covers parts of Cayuga and Onondaga Counties including Auburn, Cato, Port Byron, Weedport, Baldwinsville, Camillus, and Fabius.
Early voting runs from October 25 through November 3 and Election Day is Tuesday, November 5.
