An upcoming rabies vaccination clinic will help Auburn area residents keep their four-legged friends safe.
The Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York and Cayuga County Health Department will hold a free clinic at the SPCA’s temporary location within the Fingerlakes Mall (by the former Sears automotive garage) from 4:00-6:00p on August 22.
Dogs, cats, and ferrets are welcome. Dogs must be leashed (and muzzled if necessary) while cats and ferrets must be in carriers. Only one animal is allowed per carrier. All animals must be at least four months old.
Proof of prior vaccination is required to receive a three-year rabies vaccine. Rabies tags cannot be used as proof. Ferrets will receive a one-year certificate.
While not required, the SPCA is asking those planning to attend to pre-register. Pre-registration can be done by calling 315-253-5841.
According to the SPCA, while preventable, rabies is nearly 100% fatal.
