The four people who made up the staff of the Cayuga Economic Development Agency have been laid off.
The Citizen reports the furloughs came at the recommendation of a consulting firm hired to review the agency. Their 88-page report states the agency needs to evolve and hire an experienced executive director while at the same time decreasing the number of people on its board of directors, which is currently 15.
The consultant also recommended Cayuga County invest more money annually into the agency.
