Registrations Open for Auburn’s Annual Holiday Parade

SHARE NOW

Registration is now open for those wishing to participate in the City of Auburn’s Annual Holiday Parade.

The city has opened registration for those wishing to march or drive in the downtown parade. Applications are available on the city’s website and will remain open through November 24 at noon.

Completed forms can be dropped off at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall or emailed to [email protected].

There has been a renewed interest in the parade amongst the public after the Auburn Downtown Partnership announced on November 6 that the city had decided to cancel the parade, citing safety concerns. The parade would be replaced with a new tree lighting ceremony at the State Street Event Plaza instead.

Later that same day, following public outcry, the city announced the parade would take place with changes to enhance safety. The parade will now begin at 3:30p so there is more daylight; there will be minor adjustments to the parade route, and the prohibition on throwing candy from floats will be strictly enforced.

Auburn’s Annual Holiday Parade will take place on November 29.

The tree lighting ceremony that was meant to replace the parade will still take place. While details are limited at this time, the event, a partnership between the Auburn Downtown Partnership, AT Walley’s, and the city’s Parks & Recreation Department, will take place from 4:00-6:00p on the 29th.

Additionally, Holiday Traditions, the annual event organized by the Historic & Cultural Sites Commission, will take place as planned on December 14. From 12:00-5:30p, the Equal Rights Heritage Center will host holiday-themed family fun, including visits from Santa Claus beginning at 4:00p.
