Registration is now open for the United Way of Cayuga County’s annual mini-golf fundraiser.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Julisa Stone with United Way said its annual Tim Morrison Mini-Golf tournament is an incredibly important fundraiser for the group.
“It’s the biggest fundraiser that offsets operating costs for the United Way so that the majority of dollars raised can go out to non-profits serving Cayuga County residents,” Stone said.
The annual event returned last year after going on a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teams will compete to see who can get the best score on 19 mini-golf courses designed by businesses from in and around Cayuga County. There will also be prizes given for best team name, best course, and best attire.
This year’s theme for the tournament is the “Billboard Top 100 Hits of 1975.” Stone added that the theme wasn’t chosen at random, instead representing a milestone for the United Way.
“Since last August we’ve been celebrating being countywide for 75 years,” Stone said. “In 1948, we officially became a countywide organization so this year, as part of the tournament, we’re celebrating that and partying like it’s 1975.”
The 31st Annual Tim Morrison Mini Golf Tournament will be held March 20 at the Holiday Inn in Auburn. Teams of four (all participants must be 21 or older) have until March 13 to register. Registration information can be found on United Way’s website.
