Registration Open for Inaugural Mini Golf Contest & Fundraiser

SHARE NOW

Registration is now open for a new fundraiser to contribute to help graduating Auburn High School students.

Tom Thumb Drive In (6143 E Lake Rd, Auburn) will host an inaugural miniature golf tournament on August 18. Bob Ringwood is the tournament director. He told Finger Lakes News Radio that participants will play a round of golf with the eight competitors who have the lowest scores moving on to a second round where the winner will be crowned.

Ringwood added that while individuals can bring their own equipment, putters and balls will be provided by the ice cream parlor. There are also no age categories for the competition.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Carmela Galbato CARM (Curb Alcohol Related Mortalities) scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a senior at Auburn High in the Students Against Drunk Driving organization.

On July 1, 1978, Thomas and Carmela Galbato purchased the drive-in; tragically, just over a year later on July 11, 1979, Carmela was killed by a drunk driver.

Registration is $20 per person and includes 18 rounds of mini golf and an ice cream cone. To register for the tournament and select a tee time, contact Ringwood at 845-807-1198 or [email protected].
