Registration Open for Golf Scramble Benefiting Cayuga County Vets

SHARE NOW

Registration is open for an upcoming golf tournament to support veterans in Cayuga County.

A 9-hole golf scramble will be held at noon on June 14 at the Wells College Golf Course in Aurora.

For the scramble, everyone on the three-person team will hit from the tee to begin the hole with the best shot being used as the starting point for the next shot. This will continue until the hole is finished, resulting in a quicker round of golf.

Registration costs $30 for veterans and $35 for supporters. Registration includes nine holes of golf with one cart as well as food, prizes, and live music afterward.

Jim Orman, a Vietnam veteran and the village’s mayor, is helping to organize the event. He told Finger Lakes News Radio that money raised from the scramble will go to the Cayuga County Veteran Service Agency’s Veteran Support Fund.

“[The fund] helps veterans in a time of need,” said Orman. “Say maybe your furnace goes or something happens along those lines. Nothing major but it is something major to the person it’s happening to.”

To register a team, contact Orman at 315-730-0449. Checks can be made payable to Aurora Golf, LLC, and mailed to Kevin Fitzgerald, 1600 Sherwood Rd, Aurora, NY 13026.

The deadline to register is June 12.
