There’s still time left for area teens to register for the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County’s 4-H Youth Development Program Tractor Safety Certification Class in Cayuga County.

Teens 14-16 are required by law to have at least 24 hours of safety and maintenance instruction to drive a tractor on a farm not owned by their parents. They must also pass a written and driving exam to receive certification. 13-year-olds can also take the course but will not receive certification.

The course is open to 4-H and non-4-H members. Youth do not need to live in Cayuga County to take this course.

This will be the only course offered in Cayuga County to certify youth in 2025.

Classes will take place on eight separate days from February 25 to April 23 at various locations in Auburn, Scipio Center, and Moravia.

Registration must be completed by February 18 and can be done here. There is a $45 registration fee that includes a student manual.
