In April, several Cayuga County towns and villages along a 12-mile stretch joined New York’s Empire State Trail Towns program. Next week, a public meeting will discuss what that means for the localities within the trail – Brutus, Mentz, Montezuma, Port Byron, and Weedsport.
Public officials, business owners, and residents are encouraged to attend the meeting at the Samuel Center for Canal History in Port Byron on June 24 at 6:00p to learn more about the program and how it will benefit both trail users and local communities.
The program is designed to help communities along the trail identify how to capitalize on their location along the longest single-state, multi-use trail in the nation.
Since its completion in 2020, the trail has attracted visitors from across the globe.
