SHARE NOW

Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs residents will have a chance Thursday to learn more about the villages’ joint Downtown Revitalization Initiative application as well as the individual NY Forward grant applications each village is applying for.

Cayuga County Planning & Economic Development Department staff, along with the mayors of each village, will hold a public information session where residents can also provide feedback and share their opinions with officials. Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Cayuga

County Senior Planner Kari Terwilliger said public feedback is crucial for successful applications.

“We really need and want public input. So, it’s important for people to come and let us know. Are we on track? Are the projects that are being proposed what the community wants to see? Are the visions, statements, and boundaries where money would be spent if awarded, is that in line with what the community as a whole wants to see.”

The session will take place Thursday at 7:00p at the Union Springs Junior High School Auditorium.

After the session, the planning department will meet with each village board of trustees to finalize plans. The applications will then be sent in for each village’s NY Forward grant as well as the joint DRI proposal.
