Owasco Residents can weigh in this week on a proposed solar facility in the town.
WSB Solar 1 LLC and WSB Solar 2 LLC are seeking to construct a 7.4-megawatt solar energy facility on Melrose Rd near Byrne Rd. The facility would consist of two solar arrays.
The proposed solar facilities would lie on a 64.3-acre parcel of land and have an access road from Byrne Rd.
Under the proposal, approximately 37 acres of scrub/shrub and four acres of mature trees would be removed for installation of the panels. Currently, the site primarily consists of agricultural and forested land.
Under town law, the town council needs to approve a zone change for the proposed Tier 3 Solar Energy System.
A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for 4:00p on Thursday at the Owasco Town Hall.
An overview of the project can be found below.
