Port Byron Staff Continue Annual Thanksgiving Giving Tradition

SHARE NOW

Port Byron Central School District staff members once again came together this season to support local families through an annual giving tradition that began in 2017, when current Superintendent Mike Jorgensen served as principal of Dana West High School. What started as a small effort has grown into a meaningful districtwide tradition rooted in care, connection, and gratitude.

This year, staff assembled and donated 60 Thanksgiving boxes, each filled with everything needed to prepare a full holiday dinner — from a turkey to classic side dishes and even pumpkin pie. The boxes ensure that families throughout the Port Byron community can enjoy a warm, complete Thanksgiving meal together.

“We are incredibly thankful for our Port Byron families,” Superintendent Jorgensen said. “This tradition is one of the many ways our staff shows their care and dedication to the community. For a community our size, collecting 60 boxes is truly remarkable.”

The district extends its heartfelt gratitude to every staff member who contributed, and to the families whose strength and support continue to inspire acts of kindness year after year.

Through generosity, teamwork, and a shared sense of gratitude, Port Byron continues to uphold a tradition that brings the community together in meaningful ways.
