A Port Byron man was sentenced this week to 10 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. 46-year-old Brien Fredendall also received a 15-year term of supervised release following his imprisonment and must continue to register as a sex offender.
Fredendall, who had a prior New York State conviction for similar offenses, admitted to possessing videos and images of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) he received from a minor on Snapchat, as well as additional CSAM on his cell phone.
Acting U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III emphasized that “there is no room in our society for predators like Fredendall.” At the same time, FBI Albany Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli noted that the FBI will continue to work with law enforcement to protect children from exploitation.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Albany Division Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, with assistance from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian S. LaRochelle.
