Police have released the name of the man who died after saving another man from a house fire in Cayuga County last week.
State Police say 59-year-old Rodney McClure helped 78-year-old Joseph Goodsell escape the McNeely Road home in Victory they shared after it caught on fire just after one last Tuesday morning. Goodsell went to a neighbor’s to call for help and when firefighters arrived on scene, they found McClure’s dead body inside of the home. Goodsell was not injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
